I-15 at the point of the mountain gets the shaft*

It looks like I-15 between 12300 South and Lehi will not receive a much needed expansion. Instead, so that we don’t exceed our bonding limits, the freeway expansion will start in Lehi and extend to Spanish Fork.
A generous sum to the tune of $1.8 billion will be spent on the project.
Although I’m kind of disappointed that southern Salt Lake County won’t benefit, this expansion will hugely benefit commuters who drive the portion of I-15 that will be worked on. I’m just glad to see that Utah is becoming so expansion minded. There’s a lot more to be done, mind you, but at least some things are happening.
