millionaire in training Know before you go Robert Allen, real estate investing guru, comes to Utah*Page A13 of this morning’s Deseret Morning News reads in big bold letters:

“Salt Lake City Foreclosures Rise – Real estate meltdown triggers investor bonanza. See why 2008 is the best time in 50 years to buy houses, apartment and office buildings and more.”

As you look down the page to the words in boldface, you read: ‘get rich with real estate’, ‘Get paid to buy a house’, and ‘have constant cash flow you can count on’.

Wow this sounds great – why am I still sitting here?! I’m still here because I’ve just been thrown a huge sales pitch by Robert Allen, real estate investing guru, and I know it’s not as easy as he makes it sound.

I’m not going to tell people that they shouldn’t attend Allen’s seminar, because some people have benefited, but I am going to warn people that they should first know what he’s about.

First and foremost, he’s a salesman. In the paper it says that his seminar is free, and it is, but before you leave the seminar you’ll get sales pitched again. His intensive training courses where he goes into real depth could cost you a large chunk of change. That’s not all bad, but just know it beforehand.

Next, you won’t hear any new, unheard of information at this seminar. Real estate investing principles that really work are tried and true. There’s no magic pill. Allen makes it sound easy by using phrases like ‘buy a home with little or no money’, Hidden bargains’ and ‘anyone can get rich in real estate’, but IT IS NOT THAT EASY. After you finish with his seminar, expect to work very hard just like anyone else that makes it big in RE investing.

And lastly, don’t expect to get rich quick in real estate, with or without Robert Allen’s seminar. Expect to pay some dues, make some mistakes, and try again. Allen’s success stories had to. It’s great that they’ve made some good money, and you can too, but you’ve just got to pay the price.

So if I were you, I’d go to the seminar. You can learn something from most anybody. Take the good along with the fluff and make an educated decision about whether or not it’s for you. Don’t let your emotions get caught up in the prospect of being a millionaire in 2008. Talk it out with your family, your mentor, or whoever before making a decision to put down a grand or so for more Robert Allen training. If you then decide that it’s for you, then that’s great – you’ve taken the first step. The first seminar is on Saturday, February 16th at 10 am or 3 pm at the Salt Lake City Marriott University Park.
