Christmas at Thanksgiving Point

Posted: March 19th, 2008 | Author: Nathan Blair | Filed under: Christmas, Thanksgiving Point | Tags: , , , | No Comments »

Today I received my Thanksgiving Point newsletter, which I signed up for about six months ago. I have to say that I’m glad I did, because if you like the kinds of things that Thanksgiving Point offers, it a great way to keep informed of it all. There is a lot going on there this Christmas season. The male a’capella group ‘Voice Male’ will be performing their Christmas concert on December 18 and 20. I went to a concert of theirs a few years ago and it’s very fun entertainment. I highly recommend them.

Thanksgiving Point also claims to have over a million Christmas lights, and you can take a ride, by carriage if you want, through the whole display. The artwork of Simon Dewey will help to tell the Christmas story as Christmas music plays in the background. I believe this one costs a little bit of money per car, but it’s nothing big.

They also put on production of The Nutcracker, and although I’ve never seen theirs before, I hear it’s very good.

All this combined with everything that Thanksgiving Point offers year round, such as the shops, museums, and such, should make it a great place to spend some time this Christmas season.

Saratoga Springs in Utah County offers a sort of small town feel

Posted: March 18th, 2008 | Author: Nathan Blair | Filed under: Saratoga Springs Utah, Utah cities | Tags: , , , | No Comments »

If any of you are familiar with northern Utah county, you will know that home sales in Saratoga Springs have slowed a bit. Well, big surprise, but allow me to put in a plug for this community. I hope this won’t seem like a typical “live in Utah” post, because I really am familiar with Saratoga Springs and I think it has something to offer.

My sister just moved to the Stillwater neighborhood there, and the first thing that would make someone want to follow is the stunning view of Utah lake. Mind you, this is not the same lake as seen from Provo. Literally it is of course, but it actually looks nice from the west shores. Those buyers getting in early are building with large windows on the east side of their homes so as to allow the beauty to come through in living color.

If you like living close to recreational spots, this is also a plus for Saratoga Springs. Water sports and mountain trails are within minutes. In Stillwater, you can ride up the mountain side on your four wheelers and it’s as if you’ve left northern Utah.

If a smaller town feel isn’t for you, then you might be better off in Salt Lake, but many people enjoy the feel of Saratoga Springs and it’s neighboring Lehi just because it isn’t Salt Lake. Again this is a matter of opinion, but farms still abound in the area. And if you’ve heard it’s too far out there, well I’d say to give the drive a try. It really isn’t that bad.
