Text messaging comes to real estate*

Gone are the days when text messaging was just a fun way for teens to communicate to each other. Texting has seeped into our families and businesses in a way that many people never thought it would. Even the real estate business is adapting to utilize texting beneficially.
I recently stumbled upon a company that is using the text messaging phenomenon for the good of both the real estate agent and the buyer/seller.
The concept of their business is simple: say you are out driving in your car, in search of homes. When you see a home that you like, most people won’t call the real estate agent right then; you’ll take a flier and get familiar with the place before you decide if you want to see it or not. If you like it, then maybe you or your agent will call and set up a showing.
Well maybe you don’t want to take the first step to call the agent, or maybe you are a paperless type person and you don’t want stacks of fliers messing up your car. This service makes it easier on you.
When you pull up to a home you like, if they are using the service, you’ll be able to text in a code to the number on the sign. You’ll then instantaneously receive all the information about that home. It’s a great non-invasive way for you to get what you want and move on.
The real estate agent benefits too. When the buyer texts in the code, the agent captures that person’s phone number, thereby giving him or her a potential lead. It’s mutually beneficial.
The service is provided by XAP Realty and any agents that are interested in the product can visit their website here. By the way, I am not affiliated with XAP Realty in any way. I just like the idea.
*My service doesn’t stop here! In addition to maintaining The Salt Lake City Utah Real Estate Blog, I also help people buy and sell homes in Utah. When you need help with either of these, contact me!
